The Georgia Gwinnett College men's tennis team solidified its top national ranking with a dominant 7-2 victory over No. 3-ranked Keiser University (Fla.) Saturday at the GGC Tennis Facility.
The Grizzlies (21-0) won the first seven points of the match to capture their 76th consecutive match.
Senior Gilad Berman and junior Ayed Zatar won eight of the 11 games at No. 2 doubles to give GGC its first point of the match. Sophomore Sergio Valinotti and freshman Valentino Caratini picked up an 8-2 triumph at No. 3 doubles. Junior Rafael Coutinho and sophomore Federico Herrera Duran rounded out the doubles action with an 8-5 victory on the No. 1 court.
In singles, Herrera Duran earned a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles to give the Grizzlies a 4-0 edge. Then, Zatar clinched the team victory with a straight-set victory at No. 2 singles. Coutinho followed closely with a victory at No. 3 singles by winning 12 of the 15 games in the match. Sophomore Mika Kosonen gave GGC a 7-0 lead with a 6-1, 6-0 victory on the No. 6 court.
Keiser (11-4) won a third-set tiebreaker at No. 1 singles and picked up a victory at No. 5 singles.
