Georgia Gwinnett College men's tennis players collected six victories across singles and doubles action in Friday's matches of the Grizzly Invitational at the GGC Tennis Facility.
The season-opening competition features players from GGC and NCAA Division I schools Georgia Tech, Georgia State University, Jacksonville State University (Alabama), UAB, University of North Alabama, and The Citadel (South Carolina).
DRAWS
Sophomore
Kanan Gasimov advanced to the semifinal round of the Green Draw bracket by defeating Alberto Altur of North Alabama in a three-set marathon match. Gasimov won the opening set by a 6-3 score and then held off Altur's rally by winning a third-set tiebreaker 10-7. Gasimov later retired during the second set in his semifinal match to Georgia Tech's Richard Biagiotti.
Freshman
Luciano Larosa collected a 6-3, 6-1 victory against The Citadel's Diego Ladino to advance to the semifinal round of Grizzly Draw bracket.

In doubles, the team of sophomore
Luka Vuglar and freshman
Kellen Simmons scored an impressive 6-3 victory against a pairing from Georgia Tech to advance to the semifinal round of the B Draw. Freshman
London Vasilescu and Larosa have advanced to the semifinal of the C Draw and will now face a team from Georgia State.
Freshman
Aryan Jit Singh earned a straight-set singles triumph in the Gold Draw by 7-6 (4), 6-2 scores against The Citadel's Nick Stroumpis. Vuglar rounded out Friday's singles winners for GGC by defeating The Citadel's Anthony Osipov by 6-1, 6-4 scores.
The Grizzly Invitational is scheduled to conclude on Saturday, September 12, starting at 10 a.m.
