The Georgia Gwinnett College men's tennis team claimed a 7-0 victory over NCAA Division I The Citadel Saturday at the Bitsy Grant Tennis Center to post the program's 66th consecutive victory in dual matches.
GGC (11-0) has won all of its matches during the 2017-18 season in shutout fashion, and extended its string of shutout victories to 15 matches leading back to the 2016-17 season.
The NAIA's top-ranked Grizzlies took the only doubles point of the match with commanding 8-0 victories on the No. 1 and 2 courts. The top doubles duo of senior Gilad Berman and junior Ayed Zatar picked up their eighth triumph of the season. Sophomores Federico Herrera Duran and Sergio Valinotti was victorious at No. 2 doubles.
In singles, GGC won matches on all six courts in straight sets to complete the victory. Berman won 12 of 13 games on the No. 1 court. Sophomore Mika Kosonen gave the team a 3-0 lead with a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 6 singles. Freshman Serge Becerra clinched the victory with a win on the No. 4 singles court. Herrera Duran, Valinotti and Zatar rounded out the winners.
