GGC, 10-1 and ranked No. 1 in the NAIA, won all six singles matches in straight sets and was victorious in 24 of the 28 games in doubles action.

The team featuring sophomores Chiara Rebecchi and Debora Scurt was an 8-1 winner at No. 2 doubles, while Emerald Able and Margarida Abreu were another successful sophomore duo, winning 8-3 on the No. 1 court. Junior Henar Munoz and sophomore Maria Prados Cid won all eight games at No. 3 doubles to give GGC an early 3-0 advantage in the match.

Munoz won 12 of 15 games in her first match of the season at No. 1 singles.

"I was excited to be listed at the top of the singles lineup for this match," she said. "I tried to play with more spin on the ball, and move my feet faster due to today's windy conditions. You can use the wind as an excuse when some shots don't fall within the court lines. However, in the end, the windy conditions are the same for both players."

Rebecchi registered a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 5 singles before Able clinched the team's victory on the No. 2 court. Junior Gabrielle Robinson and Scurt won by identical 6-0, 6-1 scores at No. 3 and No. 6 singles. Prados Cid rounded out the winners with a 6-2, 6-0 triumph on the No. 4 court.

GGC suffered a 5-3 loss to NCAA Division II Lynn University (Fla.) Saturday in a match featuring the top-ranked collegiate tennis teams at the NAIA and NCAA Division II ranks. The Grizzlies had won 43 consecutive matches.
