Six Georgia Gwinnett College women's tennis players and the entire team have been honored by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association for their academic successes for the successful 2026 season.

Senior Nicoleta Anestiadi and junior Mireia Simon Sanchez joined sophomores Casey Beaver and MaryLove Edwards and freshmen Toluwani Akosile and Minami Tan in earning Scholar Athlete honors for having 3.5 or higher grade point averages during the 2025-26 academic year.

Eligible teams needed to have a 3.2 or higher collective GPA for the season.

Edwards also received Academic All-District honors this spring from the College Sports Communicators organization. On the court, she garnered first NAIA All-America team honors after posting a perfect 13-0 singles record on the No. 1 court. Edwards ranked No. 31 nationally in singles and No. 35 in doubles by the ITA for the season.

Simon Sanchez and Tan each tallied eight singles victories and partnered for a 12-3 record in No. 2 doubles matches.

Anestiadi teamed with Edwards to post seven wins on the nationally ranked doubles team.

Toluwani and Beaver combined to compete in 11 doubles matches for the Grizzlies this past spring.

Georgia Gwinnett College, led by Head Coach Tom Rees, had a 9-8 record in dual matches during the 2026 campaign.
