The Georgia Gwinnett College women's tennis recorded its second straight 5-2 triumph, defeating Missouri Baptist University on Wednesday afternoon in a match played at Bethel University in McKenzie, Tennessee.
The Grizzlies (9-8) move over the .500 mark for the first time this spring. Meanwhile, they beat a Missouri Baptist team that received votes in the latest NAIA national poll.
GGC used a strong doubles performance to grab the early 1-0 advantage in the dual match. Junior
Suryanshi and sophomore
MaryLove Edwards teamed to win all six games at the top of the lineup, evening the doubles portion of the match.

Minami Tan secured the doubles point with a strong 6-3 performance on the No. 2 doubles court.

The team's strong play continued in singles as the Grizzlies captured the first set in five of the six matches.
Suryanshi won all 12 games at No. 2 singles to give GGC a 2-1 lead. Simon Sanchez then picked up a 6-3, 6-1 victory on the No. 4 court for the team's third point.
Edwards clinched the victory with a straight-set 7-5, 6-0 triumph at the top of the lineup. Tan rounded out the team's winners with a 7-6 (0), 6-2 triumph at No. 3 singles.
Senior
Nicoleta Anestiadi dropped a hard-fought three-set match at No. 5 singles, splitting the first two sets by 6-3 scores before falling 10-7 in the deciding third-set tiebreaker.
