Box Score The Georgia Gwinnett College women's soccer team marked the program's 100th match in a significant way, battling No. 8-ranked Keiser University (Fla.) to a 1-1 draw Sunday afternoon at the Grizzly Soccer Complex.
The draw is the second in GGC women's soccer history against a nationally ranked opponent.
Trailing 1-0 in the second half, junior Ana Gonzalez scored the game-tying goal in the 65th minute. The scoring chance came after junior Nicole Rodriguez won a goal kick. Gonzalez beat the Keiser goalkeeper to the ball at the top of the 18-yard box to send the ball into the open net.
Keiser (3-1-1) got on the scoreboard 46 seconds into the match when Ebba Gustafsson headed in a pass from Kiera Heslam.
GGC (2-3-1), unbeaten in its last three matches, held a 20-17 shot advantage in the 110-minutes of action. The Grizzlies had an 8-7 edge in shots on goal. Keiser registered five shots in the two overtime periods, compared to just three shots for the Grizzlies.
Sophomore goalkeeper Sophie Hoare made six saves.
Turning Point
Trailing 1-0 midway through the second half, junior Nicole Rodriguez won a header off the goal kick to send it over the defense. Junior Ana Gonzalez hustled and beat the Keiser goalkeeper to touch the ball and send it into the open net for the equalizer.
