GGC 5, Emmanuel 2

GGC 6, Emmanuel 1

The Georgia Gwinnett softball team used two complete game performances from freshman pitcher Ashley Beyke to take 5-2 and 6-1 victories over Emmanuel College Tuesday in Lawrenceville.

Alycia Fields went 3-for-3 at the plate with two runs scored in the opening game before Heather Kilar led the charge in game two with two hits, an RBI and a run scored.

The Grizzlies (7-16) have now won a season-high four straight games. Emmanuel fell to 3-19 with the defeats, their fourth in as many days to GGC.

Beyke struck out four and walked four over 14 innings Tuesday to earn her fourth and fifth wins of the year.

Brittany Bruns went 2-for-3 in the opener with an RBI and a run scored while Halley Ingram added a 2-for-4 performance with a run scored in game two.

“We put all aspects of the game together today,” said Grizzlies head coach Kat Ihlenburg. “Offensively, defensively and pitching we had a complete performance.

“It’s great to see so many players contributing with hits,” added the Grizzlies’ first-year head coach.

Georgia Gwinnett has six more home games scheduled this week and is back in action with a 2 p.m. doubleheader Thursday against Talladega College.
