Jarvis Headlines GGC's Two 2025 NAIA Softball Academic All-American Selections

The Grizzlies have had 12 Academic All-American selections over the past 13 seasons
Georgia Gwinnett College senior softball pitcher Annalise Jarvis has added NAIA Softball Academic All-America Team Member of the Year to her All-American accolades for the 2025 season. The latest honor was announced by College Sports Communicators on Tuesday, June 17.

Senior pitcher Kailynn James was a second Academic All-America team selection in nationwide voting by athletic communicators following the 2025 season. Eligible student-athletes need to maintain a 3.5 or higher cumulative grade-point average, have at least of sophomore academic standing, and pitchers had to make at least 17 appearances or pitch in at least 35 innings this past spring.

Jarvis pitching stanceJarvis, from Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, becomes the second GGC softball player to earn the nation's top Academic All-American award, joining Sydney Pelaez from the 2023 season. The GGC softball program has now had 12 Academic All-Americans in its 13 seasons of existence.

The Office of Athletics has had 45 Academic All-Americans and eight Team Members of the Year since 2017. The college has had at least one Academic All-American across its six intercollegiate sport teams and at least one selection for nine consecutive calendar years.

"We put the student first within our program. GGC has always had an administration that supports students and values that earning a degree for a rewarding career is the ultimate goal for our student-athletes," said Head Coach Kat Ihlenburg.

Jarvis collected first-team All-American honors from the NAIA and National Fastpitch Coaches Association for the 2025 season. The righthander posted a 25-3 record, with five saves, and had a 0.93 earned run average and 266 strikeouts across 41 appearances. She tossed 11 shutouts out of her 25 starts in 2025 and held opposing hitters to a .165 batting average.

The business management graduate capped her GGC career with five program records: ERA (0.79), strikeouts (812), saves (15), complete games (72), and opponents' batting average against her (.161). She had a 68-13 record in 110 career pitching appearances.

Jarvis became the seventh NAIA softball pitcher to achieve 1,000 career strikeouts and was named NAIA Pitcher of the Year in 2023. She also had five perfect games, with at least one coming in each of her three seasons as a Grizzly.

"It is an absolute honor to be recognized for how hard it is being a student-athlete. Being a student is hard and adding the responsibilities of being an athlete at a top-flight program, like GGC, is even harder. Being recognized for balancing the work on and off the softball field is awesome," said Jarvis.

James pitchingMeanwhile, James garnered third NAIA All-America team honors after leading all NAIA pitchers this spring with a 0.88 earned run average. The righthander went 17-4 inside the circle and tossed seven shutouts in 2025.

The biology major from Bethlehem, Georgia, also garnered first-team all-Continental Athletic Conference accolades after recording 138 strikeouts this spring. She tossed a perfect game at Westcliff University (California) and was the winning pitcher in the championship game of the NAIA Opening Round Lawrenceville Bracket, helping GGC qualify to the NAIA World Series for the third consecutive season.

Georgia Gwinnett College had a 48-10 record this past season, capturing CAC and NAIA Opening Round tournament titles, and matching the team's deepest postseason finish in program history with a semifinal World Series appearance.
