After two road victories, the No. 5-ranked Georgia Gwinnett College men's soccer team will play its home opener when hosting Southeastern University (Florida) in the Green Out Game on Monday, August 31, at the Grizzly Soccer Complex, starting at 1 p.m.

The Grizzlies (2-0-0) have won their first two matches of the season by identical 5-1 scores, with a neutral-site victory against the University of Northwestern Ohio coming in the Dalton Classic on Thursday.

Monday's meeting will be the second straight season that Southeastern (1-0-0) has come to Lawrenceville to face GGC. Last year's matchup ended in a scoreless draw.

Freshman JJ Grimaldo led the Grizzlies' scoring effort against Northwestern Ohio with a pair of first-half goals. Junior Dylan Cedeno recorded a pair of assists and classmate Djordje Djurasinovic added an assist among the team's four goals in the first half.

Sophomore Jean Malilo scored the first goal of his GGC career, giving the team a 4-1 halftime advantage. Senior Francisco Osorio netted his first goal of the 2026 campaign.

On the season, sophomore Ousmane Fall anchors the team's offensive attack with four goals. He scored the first goal during the Northwestern Ohio match and had a hat trick in the Grizzlies' season-opening triumph against SCAD Savannah (Georgia) on August 22.

Junior Pedro Nunes also has scored multiple goals this season to round out the team's top offensive performers.

GGC has outshot both of its opponents and is averaging 21 shots per match.

Meanwhile, senior goalkeeper Dagoberto Romero has made two saves and recorded an assist while playing all 90 minutes in Thursday's match. Sophomore Victor Darub started in front of the team's goal and stopped two shots during the season-opening victory at SCAD Savannah.

Southeastern earned a 2-0 victory against NCAA Division II Eckerd College (Florida) last Saturday. The Fire are scheduled to play Campbellsville University (Kentucky) at the Dalton Classic on Saturday before coming to Lawrenceville. Tapiwa Kufakurowa and Koren Klein scored the team's goals in the second half, and goalkeeper Noah Murray-Hawkins made three saves to keep the match scoreless during the first half. Pablo London led Southeastern with three shots in the season-opener.

Scoring four goals over the first two matches, including an electric hat trick during the season-opener, Ousmane Fall was named the first Continental Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the 2026 season. This is the second time the forward has earned the honor during his career and was named the CAC Player and Newcomer of the Year postseason awards.

OFFENSIVE FIREPOWER
The Grizzlies head into Monday's match averaging five goals in each of their first two contests, while Southeastern is coming off a 2-0 victory against Eckerd. Both teams have posted a high number of shots, with GGC averaging 21 shots per match that have been spread across 10 different players. Southeastern recorded 11 shots from seven players in the season-opener.
 
GREEN OUT HOME OPENER
Monday's matchup will be the first home match of the 2026 season for the Grizzlies. The contest comes after the team posted a pair of 5-1 road triumphs. GGC went 9-2-3 on its home pitch last season, including winning the Continental Athletic Conference tournament title and defeating the University of Rio Grande (Ohio) in the second round of the NAIA tournament.

SERIES HISTORY
The Grizzlies have played six matches against Southeastern since their first matchup in 2015, with GGC winning four of those contests. The other two matches in the series ended in a draw, including a scoreless duel last September in Lawrenceville.
