Athletic Communications Staff Earns National, District Honors for Website, Digital Content

Four more honors were collected in the 2025-26 College Sports Communicators Fred Stabley Sr. Writing Contest
Georgia Gwinnett College's Office of Athletics' website and digital content supporting the Grizzlies' student-athletes and teams have earned national and district honors for the 2025-26 athletic season.

The athletics communications staff earned 10 top 10 finishes in the 2025-26 NAIA-Sports Information Directors of America Media & Publication Contest and four district honors in the College Sports Communicators' annual Fred Stabley Sr. Writing Contest. The awards were presented at the recent CSC Convention.

GGCAthletics.com, supervised by Director of Sports Information Director Dale Long, placed second nationally among NAIA colleges and universities for the quality of its content and information about sports teams, student-athletes, athletic facilities, and athletic office staff.

Long received a top district CSC writing award for a recap story about the baseball team's NAIA Opening Round victory. He also earned three runner-up writing honors for a profile of former baseball standout Braxton Meguiar, a story that took a behind-the-work look at the building of GGC's men's and women's basketball programs, and a preview of the softball team's pitching and catching units.

The CSC writing contest covers work produced by sports communications professionals from NCAA Division II and III, NAIA, and two-year institutions in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia.

Meanwhile, Long earned NAIA-SIDA Dr. Jack Bell Writing Contest honors for feature stories highlighting the family adoptions by Head Soccer Coach Dr. Mike Giuliano and his wife, Barbara, Louisiana native softball player Sara Roussel, and the two years of preparations that led to the tipoff of the men's basketball program. Other stories recognized covered the women tennis program's 2025 NAIA national championship, men's soccer team's 2025 Opening Round victory, and 2025-26 season previews for the baseball, men's tennis, and men's basketball teams.

The Grizzly Digital Network, supervised by Assistant Athletics Director for External Operations Matt Mahony, earned honors for its broadcast Call of the Year of a walk-off home run in the baseball team's victory against Freed-Hardeman University (Tennessee).

GGC Athletics has received at least 10 writing, website and broadcast honors for five consecutive years, and collected the Gary Spitler Award for top design honors among NAIA institutions in 2023-24 and 2022-23.
Long has registered 11 national or district Fred Stabley Sr. Writing awards since 2018.
