Mahony is the play-by-play broadcaster for each of GGC's six sports. During the 2019-20 athletic year, Mahony recorded a pair of top-three finishes in the NAIA-SIDA Publications & Media Contest, registering a runner-up placing for Publicity Video of GGC's Nike uniform reveal. He placed third in the Season/Game Highlights category for GDN's men's soccer entry.

In 2016-17, Mahony and the Grizzly Digital Network won the College Division's Best Video Feature from the College Sports Information Directors of America. That same year his documentary on the 2016 GGC baseball season won the Season/Game Highlights category in the NAIA-SIDA Publications & Media Contest. Mahony also had top-10 finishes for Best Publicity Video and Season/Game Highlights categories that same season.

He came to GGC from Union College in Barbourville, Kentucky, where he served as broadcasting director for the Bulldogs' 23 men's and women's programs. He also aided external operations, including fundraising and marketing efforts, after being an all-conference baseball player at the college.

A native of Florida, Mahony has been married to the former Ali Ray since July 2013, and the couple resides with their three daughter, Macy, Amelia and Madelyn in Jackson County.
