Georgia Gwinnett College senior
Isid Hernandez lost in the singles championship match of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's South Regional on Sunday morning at the GGC Tennis Facility. It ended a productive opening weekend of the fall season for the new Grizzly player.
DRAWS: SINGLES | DOUBLES

Hernandez fell by identical 6-2 set scores to SCAD Atlanta's Shalimar Talbi, who defeated three straight GGC players – the latest being the top two seeds in the tournament draw – to claim the regional title.
"It was an honor to represent GGC tennis this week. I had a lot of fun. Each round had its challenges, but I found a way to win and reach the final," said Hernandez, who had been the No. 2 seed.
Hernandez won her first four regional matches in straight sets and claimed victories against players from SCAD Atlanta, Middle Georgia State University and two opponents from Tennessee Wesleyan University.
By reaching the singles final, Hernandez is eligible to be an at-large selection for the ITA Cup in Rome, Georgia, from October 10-13. Senior
Justine Lespes, the tournament's No. 1 singles seed, could join Hernandez in the doubles draw after having a strong regional tournament as the top-seeded team.
Coach's Corner
"I'm proud of Isid for making it to the finals in her very first event at GGC. With her ability, hard work and fight, I have no doubt that she is going to be successful here. I can't wait to see how she competes for the rest of the season," said Head Coach
Hannah Keeling.
