For the third time, Georgia Gwinnett College Director of Sports Information
Dale Long has been named the Sports Information Director of the Year by the Continental Athletic Conference for promoting the Grizzlies' athletic teams and GGC student-athletes with distinction during the 2022-23 season.
Besides being GGC's SID for the past six years Long also has held the role of Sports Information Director for the CAC, maintaining the conference's website and social media channels along with supervising Player of the Week awards for all sports. He previously earned the CAC SID of the Year award for the 2020-21 and 2018-19 sports seasons.
For the 2022-23 season, Long began a two-year term on the NAIA-SIDA Board of Directors and is a national coordinator within the College Sports Communicators' Academic All-America Core Committee.
As the NAIA-SIDA organization's Gary Spitler Excellence in Publications award winner in 2022-23, Long captured three first-place and a runner-up finishes. He collected 13 top-10 finishes and helped oversee a department at GGC that had 19 placements in this year's NAIA-SIDA publications contest.
Long coordinated media efforts for GGC's men's and women's tennis NAIA national championship teams, while three other teams reached the final site of NAIA national tournaments in 2022-23. He also hosted three NAIA national tournaments during the year, with First and Second Rounds for men's soccer and Opening Rounds for baseball and softball.
Social media efforts coordinated by Long helped promote two NAIA National Players of the Year in 2023: Baseball player Ajay Sczekpowski and softball pitcher Annalise Wood. Several other student-athletes earned NAIA and CAC Player of the Week honors in 2022-23.
Also, four student-athletes were selected CSC's Academic All-America honors in 2022-23, including two Academic All-Americans of the Year in women's tennis player Tereza Koplova and softball player Sydney Pelaez. Thirty GGC student-athletes have earned Academic All-America honors during Long's tenure as SID.
During his time with the Grizzlies, Long has covered 11 NAIA national championship teams and 16 conference championship squads.
With 16 member institutions from across the country, the CAC promotes the education, development and welfare of student-athletes through their various experiences and participation in NAIA intercollegiate athletics. The conference annually organizes championship events in 11 sports.
