Success in the classroom and pitch has led 17 Georgia Gwinnett College soccer players to be recognized as Daktronics NAIA Scholar Athletes for the 2025 season, announced Wednesday, November 19, by the national office.
Eleven women's soccer athletes were honored joining six men's soccer student-athletes.
To qualify as an NAIA Scholar-Athlete, students must maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, appear on the eligibility certificate for their sport, and have attended their institution for at least one full year. This year, nearly 6,500 student-athletes across all fall sports were honored. Women's soccer led the way with 1,606 scholar athletes and men's soccer tallied 1,345 honorees.
The women's soccer team captured its eighth conference title and qualified for the NAIA national tournament for the ninth consecutive season in 2025. Meanwhile, the men's soccer team was ranked No. 12 in the final NAIA Top 25 poll and won its first conference championship since 2019.
GGC's women's soccer team is scheduled to play a second round postseason match against No. 14 seed Keiser University on Saturday, November 22, from West Palm Beach, Florida, starting at 1:30 p.m.
The men's soccer team is the No. 9 national seed and is schedule to host the University of Rio Grande (Ohio) in a second round match on Saturday at the Grizzly Soccer Complex, beginning at 1 p.m.
