Matilda Johansson has earned the Continental Athletic Conference women's soccer Defensive Player of the Week award – marking the second consecutive week for the Grizzlies to garner the defensive honor.

Johansson made seven saves in a shutout against Mount Vernon Nazarene University (Ohio) last Saturday. The Landvetter, Sweden, native made two incredible saves early in the second half when the match was scoreless. She kept the Cougars off the scoreboard until the team's offense scored twice for the victory.
It marked Johansson's first shutout of the season and was the team's third shutout of 2021 – accounting for all of GGC's victories this fall.
Georgia Gwinnett College (3-2) is scheduled to play at No. 23-ranked Reinhardt University (Georgia) on Wednesday, September 8, at 7 p.m. The team will then travel to Dalton State College (Georgia) on Sunday, September 12, at 1 p.m. The Grizzlies received votes in the NAIA Top-25 preseason poll.
