The top two seeded Georgia Gwinnett College women's tennis doubles teams earned victories Friday afternoon to begin play in the Grizzly Open at the GGC Tennis Facility.

The No. 1-seeded team of sophomores
Selina Pichler and
Iryna Lysykh picked up a 6-2 victory over an opponent from SCAD Savannah in the Round of 16. They will now face a team from SCAD Atlanta during the tournament's quarterfinal round on Saturday, October 9, starting at 6 p.m.
Meanwhile, junior
Tereza Koplova and sophomore
Stephanie Fernandez combined for a 6-1 triumph against an opponent from SCAD Atlanta. The tournament's No. 2 seed now advances to face a team from North Carolina Wesleyan on Saturday evening.
Singles play in the tournament is scheduled to begin with Round of 32 matches on Saturday, commencing at 8 a.m. Rain suspended most of the first-round matches in the singles draw.
Playing their first matches will be Lysykh, the No. 2 seed; Pichler, the No. 3 seed; Koplova, the No. 4 seed; and Fernandez, the No. 8 seed.
