Women's Tennis Sweeps Fourth Straight Opponent

The No. 2-ranked Georgia Gwinnett College women's tennis team recorded its fourth consecutive victory in a 9-0 home triumph against No. 22 Reinhardt University Tuesday at the GGC Tennis Facility.

All of the wins during the current streak have come in shutout fashion.

GGC (14-2) quickly grabbed a 3-0 lead in the match with victories on all three doubles courts. Sophomore Emerald Ableand freshman Madeline Bosnjak won eight of the nine games at the top of the doubles lineup.

Junior Gabrielle Robinson and sophomore Maria Prados Cid picked up an 8-5 victory on the No. 3 court. Then, junior Henar Munoz and sophomore Margarida Abreu earned an 8-5 win at No. 2 doubles.

The Grizzlies proceeded to win all six singles matches in straight sets. Robinson won all 12 games at No. 5 singles to give the hosts a 4-0 lead. Bosnjak clinched the team victory with a 6-1, 6-0 triumph on the No. 2 court.

Able picked up a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 1 singles, while Munoz won by identical set scores on the No. 3 court. Prados Cid and Abreu were victorious by identical 6-2, 6-2 scores at No. 4 and No. 6 singles, respectively.

Up Next

Georgia Gwinnett College is scheduled to host Middle Georgia State University on Senior Day Friday, April 27, at 1 p.m. at the GGC Tennis Facility. The program will honor Amy Morland, its lone senior, prior to the match.
