The Georgia Gwinnett College women's tennis team had another dominating performance, winning its fifth consecutive match to begin the 2018 season with a 9-0 victory against No. 24-ranked Tennessee Wesleyan University Friday at the GGC Tennis Facility.
The top-ranked Grizzlies won 24 of the 28 games in sweeping the three doubles matches. Senior Amy Morland and sophomore Debora Scurt earned an 8-4 victory on the No. 3 court. The sophomore tandem of Emerald Able and Margarida Abreu was victorious at No. 1 doubles. Junior Henar Munoz and sophomore Maria Prados Cid capped the strong doubles play with an 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles.
Munoz gave GGC a 4-0 lead with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles before Able won all 12 games on the No. 1 singles court to clinch the team victory. Sophomore Chiara Rebecchi, junior Gabrielle Robinson, Abreu and Prados Cid recorded wins on the No. 3 through No. 6 courts.
GGC improves to 5-0 on the season and the program has won 42 consecutive dual matches.
