Men's Tennis Wins Matchup of Nationally Ranked Opponents

The top-ranked Georgia Gwinnett College men's tennis team registered another 9-0 home court victory. This time the shutout win came Friday afternoon against No. 18-ranked Tennessee Wesleyan University at the GGC Tennis Facility.

GGC (12-0) has won all of its matches during the 2017-18 season in shutout fashion. In fact, the team has won 16 straight victories by shutouts. This stretch dates back to the 2017 NAIA national championship tournament.

Senior Gilad Berman and sophomore Federico Herrera Duran picked up an 8-6 victory at the No. 1 doubles position. Junior Ayed Zatar and sophomore Sergio Valinotti won eight of 10 games at No. 3 doubles. Then, freshmen Serge Becerra and Valentino Caratini rounded out the winners in doubles action with an 8-4 score on the No. 2 court.

The Grizzlies won all six singles matches in straight sets. Becerra captured all 12 games on the No. 3 court to give GGC a 4-0 lead, and Zatar clinched the team victory with a 6-0, 6-2 triumph at No. 2 singles. Sophomore Mika Kosonen won 12 of 13 games at No. 6 singles. Berman, Herrera Duran and Caratini rounded out the winners.
