The top-ranked Georgia Gwinnett College men's tennis team registered its 20th victory of the season when defeating No. 4 and previously undefeated Campbellsville University (Ky.) 7-2 Wednesday afternoon at the GGC Tennis Facility.
The Grizzlies (20-0) won the first five points of the match, including sweeping the three doubles matches. Sophomore Sergio Valinotti and freshman Serge Becerra teamed up for an 8-1 victory at No. 3 doubles for the first point of the match. Junior Rafael Coutinho and sophomore Federico Herrera Duran were an 8-6 winner on the No. 1 court. Senior Gilad Berman and junior Ayed Zatar won eight of 10 games on the No. 2 court to round out the winners in doubles action.
A pair of 6-0, 6-0 wins by sophomore Mika Kosonen and Herrera Duran at No. 5 and 6 singles gave the Grizzlies the 5-0 lead. Herrera Duran's victory on the No. 5 court clinched the match victory for GGC.
Berman won 12 of 15 games at No. 1 singles, while Becerra earned a 6-2, 6-0 victory on the No. 4 court to round out Wednesday's winners for the Grizzlies.
Campbellsville brought an 8-0 record into the match.
