Fast Start Leads No. 21 Men's Soccer Past Keiser

Box Score

Two goals in the first five minutes helped the nationally ranked Georgia Gwinnett College men's soccer team to a 4-0 victory over Keiser University on Monday afternoon. The Grizzlies recorded their third straight shutout to begin the 2017 season.

Freshman midfielder Toni Tiente drilled a shot from 20 yards out in the third minute to get GGC off to the fast start. He received a pass just outside the 18-yard box from sophomore forward Amin Saheb Ettabaa for the scoring opportunity.

Two minutes later, senior forward Samuel Sampaio Gomes found the back of the net from the top of the box after receiving a pass from freshman midfielder Michael Weber.

"We started well today. That allowed every field player to get into the match," said Head Coach Steve DeCou.

The No. 21-ranked Grizzlies stretched the margin to 3-0 in the 27th minute when senior midfielder Jack Gurr sent a header past the Seahawks' goalkeeper. Junior defender Andrew White and Weber contributed assists on the play.

Sophomore Carlos Delarosa capped the team's scoring in the 85th minute after freshman Krishna Clarke set up the breakaway scoring chance.

The team has yet to allow a goal this season, with freshman goalkeeper Matiji Gligorovic recording consecutive shutouts. The defense has allowed just three shots on goal through the first three matches.
