Box Score Freshman Krishna Clarke found the back of the net in the 107th minute to give the No. 8-ranked Georgia Gwinnett College men's soccer team a 2-1 double-overtime victory at West Virginia Tech Saturday afternoon.
Clarke registered his second game-winning goal of the season to run the Grizzlies' unbeaten streak to seven matches since opening the 2017 season. The team now has a 6-0-1 record.
Strong play by senior Samuel Sampaio Gomes provided the scoring opportunity, finding Clarke on a pass at the top of the 18-yard box. Clarke then proceeded to beat the WVU Tech goalkeeper with just over three minutes left to play in the second 10-minute overtime period.
Senior Ellis Husband gave the visitors a 1-0 lead in the 63rd minute when he converted a header off a free kick by senior Jack Gurr. WVU Tech tied the match in the 70th minute on an unassisted goal by Matias Pazos.
Turning Point
Playing a double-overtime match for the second straight contest, the Grizzlies were able to find the back of the net when freshman Krishna Clarke scored in the 107th minute. Senior Samuel Sampaio Gomes set up Clarke with a pass in the middle of the 18-yard box. GGC battled No. 9-ranked University of Mobile to a 1-1 draw Tuesday night in Lawrenceville, Ga.
