Box Score Seven different players found the back of the net as the Georgia Gwinnett College men's soccer team scored a season-high seven goals in a 7-1 road triumph against Columbia International University Saturday night.
The No. 11-ranked Grizzlies continued its best start to a season in program history, winning five consecutive matches to open the 2017 campaign.
Freshmen provided the early scoring punch for the visitors. Toni Tiente found the back of the net in the sixth minute. Both of his two goals this season have come in the first six minutes of a match.
Then, Michael Weber scored his third goal of the season in the 24th minute to give GGC a 2-0 advantage.
The second half featured back-and-forth action with a combined four goals in the first nine minutes of play. Sophomore Amin Saheb Ettabaa converted a header just moments after being denied on a penalty kick attempt. Sophomores Sagi Hirsch and Malik Thornell found the back of the net in the 51st and 53rd minutes respectively.
Senior Jack Gurr recorded his third tally of the season in the 69th minute. Freshman Krishna Clarke capped the team's scoring in the final minute, marking his second goal this fall.
Senior Samuel Sampaio Gomes contributed two assists and Clarke provided an assist on Saheeb Ettabaa's second-half goal.
Turning Point
The Grizzlies wasted little time in finding the back of the net. Toni Tiente helped set the tone of the match by scoring in the sixth minute. It marked the third straight match the team has scored in the opening seven minutes of a match.
