The No. 22-ranked Georgia Gwinnett College women's soccer team fell short in rallying from a two-goal second-half deficit, losing 2-1 in Thursday night's ranked showdown at No. 13 Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida.
Momo Sato found the back of the net from the top of the 18-yard box in the 58th minute to give Southeastern (5-2-1) a 2-0 advantage.
The Grizzlies (4-5-0) put up a valiant fight over the next 30 minutes, eventually scoring when sophomore
Barbora Kadlecova successfully converted a penalty kick during the 67th minute.
GGC attempted eight of its 10 shots and four corner kicks in the second half.
Southeastern struck first in Thursday's match on an own goal in the 26th minute.

Kendra Delgado had two shots in the setback. Both teams tallied 10 shots in the contest and GGC held an 8-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Thursday's match was GGC's fifth against a nationally ranked opponent this season.

Turning Point
Southeastern expanded upon its one-goal halftime advantage in the first 15 minutes of the second half. Momo Sato found the left side of the GGC goal from the top of the 18-yard box. The goal gave the hosts a 2-0 lead that was enough offense to score the victory. Sophomore
Barbora Kadlecova successfully converted a penalty kick midway through the second half for the Grizzlies' lone goal in the match.
