University of Mobile (Alabama) remained undefeated on the season behind a 3-2 home triumph against the No. 18-ranked Georgia Gwinnett College women's soccer team on Wednesday evening in Mobile, Alabama.
All the scoring in the match came in the first half.
Both of the Grizzlies' goals came off the foot of sophomore
Hannah Lorenz, increasing her team lead to five tallies for the season.
Lorenz buried a shot into the net from the top of the 18-yard box in the 11th minute after receiving a right crossing pass. That gave GGC an early 1-0 advantage. The Grizzlies (2-2-0) have struck first in all four matches this season.
Mobile (3-0-0) quickly responded with two goals in the next five minutes. Maya Tait converted a one-on-one breakaway during the 14th minute before Andi Hughes tallied a goal two minutes later, giving the Rams a 2-1 lead.
Lorenz scored in the 22nd minute from a similar spot as her first goal after receiving another right crossing pass. That tied the match at 2-2.
Mobile's Ariana Taylor gave the hosts the lead for good, at 3-2, when she floated a shot from 20 yards into the upper left corner of the goal in the 34th minute.
The Grizzlies searched frantically for the tying goal throughout the second half, outshooting the Rams by a 13-4 margin in the period. Senior
Jessica Fuentes hit the right goal post with a shot from 25 yards away from the Mobile goal in the 67th minute.
Ten of GGC's 21 shots were on goal, led by Lorenz with five shot attempts. Fuentes added three shots, while junior

Moa Koster each chipped in two shots for the visitors.
GGC concluded a season-opening stretch of playing three straight matches against teams featured in the first regular-season NAIA Top 25 poll.

"This was a disappointing result. Mobile fought hard and their goalkeeper played well in the second half. They did a good job of keeping all of our attack in front of them in the second half. We felt pretty good about the game at halftime despite trailing by a goal. When we stick to the game plan good things happen, but we tend to get away from the game plan for stretches," said Head Coach
