Georgia Gwinnett College sophomore Casey Beaver and senior Kailyn Berry have collected the Continental Athletic Conference Softball Player of the Week awards after the Grizzlies collected four shutouts last weekend.

Beaver, the Hitter of the Week, was sensational for GGC by batting .818 (9-for-11) and scoring seven runs during the winning weekend. The outfielder also successfully stole nine bases in the games.

The Gainesville, Georgia, native went 3-for-3 and scored three times in a 10-0 win against CAC's Carolina University (North Carolina) to open last Saturday's doubleheader sweep. She then went 5-for-5, had five steals and scored five runs in another sweep against Tennessee Wesleyan University on Sunday.

This spring Beaver is hitting at a .459 clip, behind a team-high 51 hits and three triples. She has scored 31 runs and is 27-of-28 in stolen base attempts across 31 games.

Berry, the Pitcher of the Week, tossed a pair of shutouts to anchor a pitching staff that did not allow a run over the course of the weekend. The Duluth, Georgia, native had five strikeouts in a four-hit shutout against Carolina.

The right hander followed that by allowing just two hits against Tennessee Wesleyan.

This season Berry stands 8-4 on the season with a 2.65 earned run average. Berry has tossed nine compete games, including four shutouts, across her 14 appearances this season.

Georgia Gwinnett College (16-15) is scheduled to travel to Bryan College for a doubleheader on Tuesday, March 24, in Dayton, Tennessee, starting at 2 p.m. Then, the Grizzlies travel for a pair of games at Cumberland University on Wednesday, March 25, in Lebanon, Tennessee, beginning at 1 p.m.
