Softball is Mississippi Bound for NAIA Opening Round

The Grizzlies are the No. 3 seed i the Hattiesburg Bracket of the NAIA Opening Round
The Georgia Gwinnett College softball team will continue its postseason play in the five-team Hattiesburg Bracket of the 2026 NAIA Opening Round, being hosted by William Carey University (Mississippi), beginning on Monday, May 11, and continuing through Thursday, May 14.

The No. 3 seed Grizzlies will begin the double-elimination tournament against No. 2 seed College of Coastal Georgia on Monday.

Joining the Grizzlies in the tournament are the host Crusaders, as the No. 1 seed, No. 4 seed Marian University (Indiana) and No. 5 seed Columbia College (Missouri).

GGC (29-22) earned an automatic bid into the national tournament as the Continental Athletic Conference tournament champions. The program has played in the past three World Series and made 11th consecutive trips to the Opening Round.

Coastal Georgia (37-12) of The Sun Conference was selected as an at-large bid representative into the national tournament. The Mariners were ranked No. 19 in the final NAIA Top 25 regular-season poll.

Monday's opening-round game will be a rematch of a close 3-2 Coastal Georgia victory on April 17 in Brunswick, Georgia. The meeting will mark the second postseason encounter as the Grizzlies won 6-5 in 11 innings to win the 2023 Lawrenceville Bracket at advance to their third World Series berth in program history.
