Women’s Tennis Loses Hard-Fought Battle to Coastal Georgia

The Georgia Gwinnett College women's tennis could not hold off a singles rally by the College of Coastal Georgia, falling 5-2 in Friday afternoon's match at the GGC Tennis Facility.

The Grizzlies (3-6) captured the doubles point behind victories on the No. 1 and No. 2 courts. The team of senior Nicoleta Anestiadi and sophomore MaryLove Edwards clinched the 1-0 dual-match advantage with a 6-4 victory on the No. 1 court.

Earlier, junior Mireia Simon Sanchez and freshman Minami Tan collected the first doubles triumph by a 6-2 score.

Coastal Georgia (4-3) began the singles rally with a victory at No. 6 singles and a straight-set victory on the No. 3 court.

Anestiadi netEdwards squared the match, at 2-2, by winning in identical 6-2 set scores at the top of the singles lineup.

However, the Mariners regained the advantage with a 7-5, 6-3 win on the No. 2 court and cliched the match with a three-set triumph at No. 4 singles.
