Men’s Tennis Sweeps Ranked Showdown

The top-ranked Georgia Gwinnett College men's tennis team secured a 7-0 sweep against No. 18 College of Coastal Georgia on Friday afternoon at the GGC Tennis Facility.

The Grizzlies (11-0) used strong doubles play to grab the early lead and momentum in the dual match. Senior Juan Carlos Garcia and freshman Yerassyl Yerdilda teamed to collect a 6-3 triumph on the No. 3 court. Then, senior Francisco Perez Esnaola and sophomore Gian Durrer combined for another 6-3 victory on the No. 2 court that clinched the match's doubles point.

Seniors Luis Francisco Sampedro and Santiago Villarruel rounded out the doubles winners, claiming a tiebreaker by a 7-5 score at the top of the lineup.

GGC then quickly seized all of the match's singles points in straight sets.

Yerdilda won by identical 6-1 set scores at No. 2 singles to double the team's lead, at 2-0. Durrer scored a 6-3, 6-0 victory on the No. 5 court before freshman Luka Vuglar won the match-clinching fourth point by a 6-2, 6-2 score on the No. 6 court.
