The top-ranked Georgia Gwinnett College men's tennis team secured a 7-0 sweep against No. 18 College of Coastal Georgia on Friday afternoon at the GGC Tennis Facility.
The Grizzlies (11-0) used strong doubles play to grab the early lead and momentum in the dual match. Senior
Juan Carlos Garcia and freshman
Yerassyl Yerdilda teamed to collect a 6-3 triumph on the No. 3 court. Then, senior
Francisco Perez Esnaola and sophomore
Gian Durrer combined for another 6-3 victory on the No. 2 court that clinched the match's doubles point.
Seniors
Luis Francisco Sampedro and
Santiago Villarruel rounded out the doubles winners, claiming a tiebreaker by a 7-5 score at the top of the lineup.
GGC then quickly seized all of the match's singles points in straight sets.
Yerdilda won by identical 6-1 set scores at No. 2 singles to double the team's lead, at 2-0. Durrer scored a 6-3, 6-0 victory on the No. 5 court before freshman
Luka Vuglar won the match-clinching fourth point by a 6-2, 6-2 score on the No. 6 court.

Carlos Garcia was victorious by identical 6-3 set scores on the No. 3 court. Francisco Sampedro defeated the reigning NAIA National Player of the Week Artur Pons by a 6-2, 6-4 score at the top of the singles lineup. Perez Esnaola won 13 of the final 14 games to win his No. 4 match by a 7-5, 6-0 score.
