The No. 1-ranked Georgia Gwinnett College men's tennis team completed its busy week by sweeping its fourth straight opponent, defeating Campbellsville University (Kentucky) and the University of Pikeville (Kentucky) by 7-0 scores on Saturday at the GGC Tennis Facility.
The Grizzlies (13-0) quickly won the doubles point in the morning match against Campbellsville. Senior
Luis Francisco Sampedro teamed with classmate
Santiago Villarruel to collect the first doubles victory of the match by winning six of the seven games on the No. 1 court. Senior
Juan Carlos Garcia and freshman
Yerassyl Yerdilda clinched the doubles point with a 6-2 triumph on the No. 3 court.
In singles, senior
Francisco Perez Esnaola gave the hosts a 2-0 advantage with a 6-1, 6-0 victory on the No. 3 court. Yerdilda earned his first win of the season at the top of the singles lineup behind a 6-4, 6-0 victory. Junior
Kanan Gasimov won GGC's fourth point of the match with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 5 singles.
Freshman
Luka Vuglar was victorious in straight sets by 6-0, 6-4 scores on the No. 6 court. Sophomore
Gian Durrer picked up a 6-2, 6-3 victory at No. 4 singles before Carlos Garcia rounded out the winners with two straight 6-3 set scorers on the No. 2 court.

In the second match of the day, the Gasimov-Vuglar doubles team collected a 6-1 triumph on the No. 3 court to clinch the dual-match point against Pikeville. That came after Durrer combined with Perez Esnaola to win all six games at the top of the doubles lineup.
Yerdilda then won 12 of 13 games at No. 2 singles before Francisco Sampedro gave the team a 3-0 lead with a 6-1, 6-0 triumph on the No. 1 court. Carlos Garcia also won 12 of 13 games on the No. 3 court to secure the match-clinching fourth point.
Durrer followed with a 6-3, 6-2 singles triumph on the No. 4 court. Gasimov also was victorious by a 6-3, 6-2 score at No. 5 singles before Vuglar finished the productive day for the Grizzlies with a 7-5, 6-0 win on the No. 6 court.
