The Georgia Gwinnett College women's tennis team fell to its second-straight top-five opponent at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association NAIA Indoor National Championship, dropping a 4-0 contest to No. 3 seed William Carey University (Mississippi) on Saturday afternoon at the Rome (Georgia) Tennis Center.
The Grizzlies (1-3) dropped the doubles point as the WCU pairing of Victoria Vieten and Isabella Lechuaga Franco edged the GGC duo of senior
Nicoleta Anestiadi and sophomore
MaryLove Edwards by a 6-4 score on the No. 1 court.
The Crusaders extended their lead to 3-0 with wins on the No. 5 and No. 6 courts. They secured the match victory with the fourth team point behind a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles.
The Grizzlies will conclude the weekend tournament with a match against Holy Cross College (Indiana) on Sunday, February 8.
