A balanced scoring attack paved the way for the Georgia Gwinnett College men's basketball team to an 84-76 victory against Florida College on the opening night of the Continental Athletic Conference Classic on Friday in the Convocation Center.
The Grizzlies (17-6) used an effective 18-6 offensive run in the second half to take a 62-46 lead following a 3-point field goal from senior
Drew Kramer with 11:40 remaining in the game. He connected on four shots from behind the 3-point arc during the offensive surge.
GGC's lead remained in double figures for a majority of the second half.
However, Florida College (6-18) wouldn't go away. The Falcons' Malik Beaufort converted a second-chance layup to bring the visitors within six points, at 79-73, with three minutes remaining.

Four straight free throws from junior
Devontre Chaney increased GGC's lead back to double digits, at 83-73, with 27 seconds left. Chaney had a double-double performance with 14 points and 12 rebounds.
Kramer scored 12 of his team-high 17 points during the second half.
GGC jumped out to an early 10-2 lead four minutes into the contest following two free throws by Chaney. The Falcons responded with 12 straight points and connected on back-to-back 3-pointers from Aiden Wall and Cameron Knox to take a 14-10 lead at the 14:02 mark of the first half.
A 3-point field goal from junior
Jahiem Berry gave the hosts a slight 37-34 halftime advantage. The guard finished with 13 points and senior
Manny Montgomery scored 11 points to round out the team's double-figure scorers.
The Grizzlies made 46.8 percent of their shots and made nine 3-point field goals.
Coach's Corner
"I thought they (Florida College) did a really good job, because normally we get a lot more clean looks than we got tonight. We were a little bit lethargic at the start, but I felt we did a good job on both ends of the court in the second half. This was our first game with everybody healthy, so it took a while for us to find out what our offensive and defensive rotations will look like. Overall, I'm pleased with the result," said Head Coach
Chase Teichmann.
