The No. 18-ranked St. Thomas University softball team swept a doubleheader on Saturday to win a weekend three-game series against No. 4 Georgia Gwinnett College. The Bobcats won the opener 8-0 before clinching the series triumph with a 7-1 victory in the nightcap in Miami Gardens, Florida.
Mya Achenbach set the table for St. Thomas (10-1) by going 3-for-4 and scoring three times from the leadoff spot in the team's batting order during the opener. The hosts plated three runs in the opening frame of the game.
Achenbach came back to hit a solo home run during the second inning. Bailey LeGere had a perfect 3-for-3 hitting performance at the plate.
In the second contest, Achenbach had another multiple-hit performance, going 2-for-3 and scoring three runs. LeGere added two more hits.
St. Thomas jumped out a 5-0 lead by pushing across two runs in the first and fourth innings.
