The Georgia Gwinnett College men's tennis team picked up a pair of sweeps on Saturday inside the tennis courts at Clemson University (Clemson, South Carolina), improving to 9-0 on the season.
The No. 2-ranked Grizzlies (9-0) swept No. 8 University of the Cumberlands (Kentucky) 4-0 for the second time in nine days. The team then completed the strong day with a 4-0 triumph against Montreat College (North Carolina).
GGC defeated Cumberlands last Friday in the quarterfinal round while capturing the Intercollegiate Tennis Association 2026 NAIA Indoor National Championship.
Against Cumberlands, the senior pairing featuring
Santiago Villarruel and
Luis Francisco Sampedro collected the first doubles victory by a 6-2 score on the No. 1 court. Senior
Juan Carlos Garcia and freshman
Yerassyl Yerdilda clinched the point for a quick 1-0 lead in the match behind a 6-4 score on the No. 3 court.
The Grizzlies completed the victory with three straight-set singles triumphs.
Yerdilda was victorious by identical 6-1 set scores on the No. 3 court to double the team's advantage. Junior

Coach's Corner
"We got the job done today with a good team effort. You learn a lot about your team with an early wake-up call and a doubleheader on the road. Despite a slow start, they rose to the challenge and took care of business professionally," said Head Coach
Tom Rees.
