The Georgia Gwinnett College men's basketball team posted its best defensive performance of the season while once again surpassing the century mark in a 102-60 victory against Reinhardt University (Georgia) on Wednesday evening in the Convocation Center.
The Grizzlies (21-6) recorded their largest victory margin of the program's inaugural season.
GGC asserted its dominance early, using a 12-0 offensive run to take a commanding 14-5 lead.
Senior
Ezzy Dawson Jr. had a dunk after receiving a pass from classmate
Anthony Bittar to give the hosts a 21-8 lead near the midway point of the first half.
The hosts dominated the glass in the opening 20 minutes, with a 23-11 rebounding margin. Meanwhile, the team's strong defensive performance limited Reinhardt (8-18) to 21 points.
The Grizzlies made 55 percent of their field goals and made eight 3-pointers in the first half to build a 55-21 halftime lead.

GGC continued to push the offensive pace in the second half as 11 different players put points on the scoreboard. A 3-point field goal by junior
Brasen James gave the hosts a 92-42 lead with seven minutes remaining in the contest.
Three players each tallied 15 points, led by the first career double-double from freshman
Amari Morgan with 15 points and 10 rebounds. James came off the bench to score 15 points and junior
Jahiem Berry also registered 15 points. Classmate
Devontre Chaney had 10 points, eight rebounds and six assists to highlight a strong all-around game.
GGC scored more than 100 points for the eighth time this season, including three of the last four contests.
In pregame festivities, seniors
Drew Kramer and
Deonte' Martinez were honored along with Berry and Chaney for surpassing the 1,000-point barrier in their collegiate careers. The program closes out the regular season on Thursday, February 19, against Carolina University (North Carolina) on Senior Day, starting at 7 p.m.

"It's fun to handle business like we did tonight. I asked the players to do this again tomorrow. (Senior Day and the team's third game in four days.) We had our full roster tonight and got a lot of different combinations on the floor. Our depth is allowing us to stay fresh at this time of the season," said Head Coach

Turning Point
The Grizzlies used several offensive runs in the first half to pull away for Wednesday's home triumph. Twelve straight points gave the team a 14-5 advantage within the first five minutes of the game. Then, GGC outscored Reinhardt by a 21-6 margin to build a commanding 42-17 lead with nearly five minutes left in the first half.
