The Georgia Gwinnett College men's basketball sent its inaugural senior class out in style with a 94-57 Senior Night victory against Carolina University (North Carolina) on Thursday evening in the Convocation Center.
The Grizzlies (23-5) ended the regular season with their eighth straight victory.
Starting five of its six seniors, GGC hit its first four shots to build a 12-2 lead four minutes into the contest. The lead grew to 16 points, at 26-10, after senior
Deonte' Martinez banked in a layup while tumbling out of bounds at the 8:21 mark of the first half.
Carolina (6-20) would respond by scoring eight straight points to trim the deficit to single digits following a layup by DJ Evans with 5:31 remaining. Later, a jump shot by Shawn Woodson brought the visitors within five points, at 34-29, with 2:48 left in the first half.
The Grizzlies pulled away from a 40-33 halftime advantage by outscoring the Bruins by a 30-8 margin during the first eight minutes of the second half. This critical stretch featured three dunks and senior
Drew Kramer and junior
Jahiem Berry each connecting on 3-point field goals.

The hosts tallied seven straight points to cap the offensive run at 37-8 over the opening 12 minutes of the second half.
Junior
Devontre Chaney led the hosts in the game with 17 points, while senior
Manny Montgomery chipped in 16 points and Kramer scored 14 points.
Seniors
Anthony Bittar,
Ezzy Dawson Jr.,
Stephon Martin, Kramer, Martinez, and Montgomery were honored in a special pregame ceremony. The class helped GGC achieve its first national ranking and more than 23 wins – and possibly more – during the program's inaugural season.
"I spent multiple years with four of those guys (at Florida College), Manny means so much to our program, and Ezzy is a standup human being. I wanted to play those guys tonight and let them earn their flowers. This group will always be remembered as our program's first senior class," said Head Coach
Chase Teichmann.
Georgia Gwinnett College will host the 2026 Continental Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Championship from Thursday, February 26, through Sunday, March 1.
Coach's Corner
"The second half was amazing after I was not pleased with our first half. We came out sharp and ended sharp in the second half. The first group that played in the second half played so well that I went with it for nearly nine minutes. This effort was a good way to end the regular season," said Head Coach
Chase Teichmann.
Turning Point
GGC turned up the defensive intensity in the early stages of the second half, outscoring Carolina by a 37-8 margin during the first 12 minutes. This came after the team led 40-33 at halftime. Three different Grizzlies recorded a dunk during the stretch and senior
Drew Kramer and junior
Jahiem Berry each connected on shots from behind the 3-point field goal arc as the hosts built a 77-41 lead.
