MaryLove Edwards picked up a hard-fought three-set victory at the top of the singles lineup as the Georgia Gwinnett College women's tennis team opened the spring season with a 6-1 loss at NCAA Division II No. 3 University of North Georgia on Friday afternoon in Dahlonega, Georgia.
Edwards won the opening set against Anatasia Opolska on the No. 1 court. She then won a dramatic tiebreaker by a 10-8 score in the third set for the visitors' lone point of the match.
In doubles, the team of junior
Mireia Simon Sanchez and freshman
Minami Tan picked up a 6-3 victory on the No. 2 court. The Night Hawks clinched the match's doubles point with a 6-4 score on the No. 1 court.
