Sophomore
Jamya Griffin's double-double performance led the defensive-minded Georgia Gwinnett College women's basketball team to its seventh straight victory with a 64-44 win at Toccoa Falls College on Wednesday evening in Toccoa Falls, Georgia.
The Grizzlies (14-6) pulled away in the second quarter, methodically pulling away from a 12-4 first-quarter lead to take a 38-20 halftime advantage. The Grizzlies used a 16-2 offensive run across the two periods to build a 22-6 lead following a layup by Griffin with seven minutes left in the first half.
The guard tallied five points in the first quarter and freshman
Christen Collins hit a pair of 3-point field goals early in the second 10-minute stanza.
Griffin recorded 15 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists in an all-around performance. Meanwhile, Collins had a team-high 17 points, based on five 3-pointers.
GGC outrebounded the Screaming Eagles (5-13) by a commanding 59-42 margin. Junior
Maddie Presha grabbed 14 rebounds and classmate
Nylaa Fuller added 10 rebounds.

The Grizzlies' stingy defense held Toccoa Falls to making only 22 percent of its field goals while converting just three of 22 3-point field goal attempts.
The visitors have held all seven of its opponents to 50 or fewer points during the recent winning streak.
Coach's Corner
"We did a good job of setting the tone for the game in the first quarter. We knew that they (Toccoa Falls) were going to apply a zone defense against us and we made the right plays that exploited it. We need to do a better job of finishing around the basket, but overall this was a very solid win," said Head Coach
Tory Wooley.
