Rosas’ Hat Trick Helps Women’s Soccer Overpower Mobile 6-1

Junior Gabriela Rosas registered the 24th hat trick in Georgia Gwinnett College women's soccer history and the first of her career as the No. 17-ranked Grizzlies delivered a dominant performance with a 6-1 victory over the University of Mobile (Alabama) on Saturday at the Grizzly Soccer Complex.

The six goals are the most scored by GGC in the competitive series that had featured three consecutive draws.

Freshman Camila Madriz Figueroa also had a strong match, scoring two goals and assisting on all three of Rosas' tallies. Her three assists are the most in a match since the 2018 campaign.

The Grizzlies (3-2-1) set the tone early, scoring four first-half goals over the first 45 minutes to seize control. Rosas netted the first of her two first-half tallies in the third minute.

Mobile (4-2-0) responded 20 seconds later when Natalie Burt capitalized on a GGC defensive lapse to even the score at 1-1.

Madriz Figueroa goal celebrationThe hosts regained the lead, at 2-1, in the 11th minute when Madriz Figueroa drilled a powerful shot into the opposing net from outside the 18-yard box. Later, Rosas converted a rebound to score in the 17th minute for her third career goal.

Freshman Hannah Lorenz added the fourth goal at the 34th minute of the match by perfectly placing a shot from 25 yards away into the upper left corner of the Mobile goal.

In the second half, Madriz Figueroa found the back of the net for her third goal of the 2025 campaign after receiving a pass from senior Natalie Maguire in the opening minutes of the period.

Rosas then completed her hat trick with a goal in the 88th minute, giving the hosts a season-best six goals in a match.

GGC outshot Mobile by a 16-5 margin, with nine shots being on goal, to demonstrate superior control of the play and offensive efficiency in the match. Meanwhile, the team limited the visiting Rams to just three shots on its goal. The Grizzlies also held a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Coach's Corner
"This was a strong 90-minute performance for us. We challenged the starters to get off to a good start because we have started slowly in our recent matches. Gabriela (Rosas) has been playing as a defender all season, but we need her dynamic playmaking ability up top of our offensive attack. I was pleased that we executed on the field everything that we worked on in training this past week," said Head Coach Dr. Mike Giuliano.

Turning Point
Junior Gabriela Rosas recorded the first hat trick of her career, finding the back of the net three times to power the Grizzlies' attack. She scored twice in the first half and added her third goal in the 87th minute to cap the commanding victory that concluded a three-match home stand.
