Men’s Soccer Scores Six Goals in Saturday Triumph

Four different goal scorers led the Georgia Gwinnett College men's soccer team to collect a convincing 6-1 victory against Brescia University (Kentucky) on Saturday to conclude action at the Dalton State Classic.

Sophomore Alejandro Contrera and freshman Luka Colic each found the back of the net twice to spark the team's 37-shot offensive attack. Four of the goals for GGC (2-0-0) came during the second half.

Colic provided the scoring during the first half, finding the back of the net in the 24th minute as the Grizzlies broke a 1-1 tie. His first tally came in the 13th minute after receiving a pass from freshman Michael Mallaburn.

GGC dominated the second half behind Contrera's two goals. The 2024 NAIA All-American got on the scoreboard for the first time this fall in the 48th minute. He later tallied a goal in the 61st minute.

Junior Francisco Osorio extended the lead to 5-1 in the 76th minute following a pass from sophomore Pedro Nunes. Sophomore Nic Peranitsch rounded out the scoring with an unassisted goal during the 83rd minute.

The Grizzlies controlled the statistics, outshooting Brescia 37-4 that featured 20 shots being on goal. GGC also attempted eight corner kicks on Saturday.

Freshman Ousmane Fall registered a match-high seven shots, while all five of Contrera's shots were on goal. Sophomore Djordje Djurasinovic, Colic and Peranitsch each registered four shot attempts. Sophomore Amadou Diop provided assists two goals during Saturday's second half.

Saturday marked the first time since October 3, 2024, that the Grizzlies have had multiple players score at least two goals in the same match.

Six of the team's eight goals scored in the two victories at the Dalton State Classic came in the second half.

Coach's Corner
"Luka was very active today and did a great job of running behind the forwards. The more guys that can score is a coach's dream. We are still learning about each other. There are things to improve on as it is only going to get tougher from here. But, it is a good start to the season with good contributions from everybody," said Head Coach Steve DeCou.

Turning Point
Reigning NAIA All-American Alejandro Contrera quickly gave the Grizzlies a two-goal lead three minutes into the second half. The sophomore's first tally of the 2025 campaign sparked a four-goal second half as the team built upon its 2-1 halftime advantage.
