Jon Ponder has opened April by being named the Continental Athletic Conference Baseball Hitter of the Week.
Ponder set the table for the Grizzlies in a three-game series sweep against Blue Mountain Christian University (Mississippi) by batting .692 (9-for-13) and scoring six runs last weekend. He hit a walk-off home run to win last Saturday's opening game.

The outfielder from Lawrenceville, Georgia, also registered multiple hits and scored two runs in all three games, led by a 4-for-6 performance with three steals in the series finale. Ponder was successful on all four of his stolen base attempts in the three games.
This season, Ponder is hitting .351 from the leadoff spot in GGC's batting order and leads the team with 53 hits, 54 runs scored and 44 steals.
Georgia Gwinnett College (33-3) takes a 13-game winning streak and No. 2 national ranking into a home game against No. 3 Reinhardt University (Georgia) on Tuesday, April 8, at the Grizzly Baseball Complex, starting at 5 p.m. The team will then travel to Beckley, West Virginia, for four games on April 11-12.
