Strong outings in the circle last weekend have earned Georgia Gwinnett College senior
Kailynn James honors as the Continental Athletic Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week.
James won both of her starting assignments at the CAC Classic, helping the Grizzlies to a 4-0 record by striking out 17 batters and posting a 0.70 earned run average in the two games.
The Bethlehem, Georgia, native posted a career-high nine strikeouts in a 10-1 win against Haskell Indian Nations University (Kansas) last Saturday. She began the classic with eight strikeouts in a complete-game victory against Columbia College (South Carolina) last Friday afternoon.
The right hander allowed four hits in each outing.
This spring James has an 8-2 record and 1.28 earned run average across 13 pitching appearances. She has recorded 65 strikeouts in 60.1 innings.
Georgia Gwinnett College (26-5), ranked No. 8 in the NAIA Top 25 poll, is scheduled to host Cumberland University (Tennessee) on Tuesday, April 1, in a doubleheader at the Grizzly Softball Complex, starting at 2 p.m. Then, the team is set to travel to Middle Georgia State University on Wednesday, April 2, for two more games in Cochran, Georgia, beginning at 3 p.m.
GGC concludes the week traveling to CAC opponent Spartanburg Methodist College (South Carolina) on Saturday, April 5, in Spartanburg, South Carolina, at 1 p.m.
