The top-ranked Georgia Gwinnett College men's tennis team extended its winning streak to 43 consecutive matches after sweeping No. 18-ranked University of the Cumberlands (Kentucky) 4-0 on Saturday afternoon at the GGC Tennis Facility.
The Grizzlies (8-0) won both matches at the annual Grizzly Invitational by sweep scores.
GGC players won three singles matches by straight-set scores after capturing the doubles point.
Junior
Luis Francisco Sampedro collected the first singles triumph with 6-4, 6-2 victory on the No. 3 court. The team recorded its third point of the dual match with a 6-0, 6-3 win from freshman
Kamron McIntosh-Ross at No. 5 singles.
Senior
Andoni Garmendia rounded out the strong singles performances by winning both sets in identical 6-2 set scores on the No. 4 court.

The tournament hosts won the doubles point behind victories on the No. 1 and No. 3 courts.

Santiago Villarruel improved to 8-0 on the season with a 6-3 triumph at the top of the doubles lineup. Senior
Aleksandr Kalinin joined with Francisco Sampedro for the third consecutive match, collecting a 6-2 victory at No. 3 doubles.
GGC will close out the Grizzly Invitational with a doubleheader against NCAA Division I The Citadel (South Carolina) on Sunday, February 23, at the GGC Tennis Facility, starting at 9 a.m.

"Collectively, we had a dominant performance today, successfully building off yesterday's success. That was our goal coming into the weekend. Our energy as a team was much better than yesterday. We looked great in singles and didn't take our foot off the gas at all," said Head Coach
