The Georgia Gwinnett College softball team dropped its first two road games of the 2025 season by 9-0 and 1-0 scores to No. 22 Southeastern University (Florida) in games played on a neutral diamond Friday afternoon at Thomas University in Thomasville, Georgia.
The Grizzlies (7-2) fell behind early in the opener as Raylei McKinney hit a run-scoring infield single in the first inning. She later connected on a solo home run in the third inning to give the Fire (6-1) an early 3-0 advantage.
Southeastern plated six more runs in the fourth inning to take a commanding lead. McKinney added a two-run single up the middle to her strong offensive day. Leah Gonzalez also drove in a pair of runs with a double.
In the nightcap, Southeastern pitcher Edan Playa matched GGC senior
Annalise Jarvis pitch for pitch inside the circle. Playa struck out seven batters in tossing the shutout to improve her record to 4-0 on the season. Jarvis tallied five strikeouts and allowed just one hit in the complete-game pitching performance.

The lone run of the contest came in the top of the eighth inning as Maria Zelenka hit a sacrifice fly that scored Chloe Baker for an unearned run. GGC put the potential tying run at third base with one out in the bottom half of the eighth inning. However, Playa extinguished the threat by getting a strikeout and a ground out back to the pitcher.
Georgia Gwinnett College continues the road trip with a doubleheader against Thomas University on Saturday, February 22, starting at 1 p.m.
