The No. 9-ranked Georgia Gwinnett College softball team remained undefeated by sweeping its first doubleheader of the 2025 campaign, beating Truett-McConnell University (Georgia) by 6-1 and 5-2 scores Tuesday evening at the Grizzly Softball Complex.
The Grizzlies (7-0) put runs on the scoreboard in eight of their 12 offensive innings for the day, which capped a season-opening home stand.
In the opener, GGC struck first on a run-scoring single by freshman
Casey Beaver in the second inning. Another single by senior
Haley Robinson scored sophomore

Then senior

The Grizzlies once again used small-ball and their speed on the basepaths to fill the scoreboard. The first run of the game came in the third inning when junior
Enna Lackey stole home on the back end of a successful double steal attempt.
Junior
Summer Hickson lined an RBI double to right-center field to plate senior

The hosts took a 4-0 lead in the fifth frame as sophomore
Morgan McQuagge added a run-scoring single up the middle.
Truett-McConnell (5-3) attempted a rally by pushing across two runs on a double from Jenna O'Brien in the top of the sixth inning.
Beaver flipped momentum back into the GGC dugout with an infield RBI single that scored junior
Sara Roussel. The outfielder tallied two hits in both games on Tuesday.

"I thought that we distributed the offense well today. We got some nice two-out hits and ran the bases well. That made things happen for us. Scoring in nearly inning shows that everybody is contributing in the lineup," said Head CoachÂ
Kat Ihlenburg.
