Men’s Basketball Defeats No. 10 Dalton State 103-73 for First Ranked Win

The Georgia Gwinnett College men's basketball team led wire-to-wire in picking up a commanding 103-73 victory Tuesday evening against No. 10-ranked Dalton State College (Georgia) on White Out Night in the Convocation Center.

The Grizzlies (8-2) have won five straight games and posted their first win over a nationally ranked team in program history.

GGC made eight of its 11 3-pointers during the first half and shot 63.5 percent overall from the floor.

The hosts set the tone early, scoring the game's first eight points within the first two minutes. GGC used another 8-0 spurt near the midway point of the first half to take a 20-11 lead after a layup from freshman Amari Morgan.

Junior Devontre Chaney scored six straight points to give GGC a 46-27 lead with 3:38 remaining in the first half. He finished by hitting 6-of-9 field goals, including 3-of-4 from behind the 3-point field goal arc, to account for a game-high 18 points.
Kramer 3-point shot
Senior Drew Kramer also was efficient offensively, connecting on seven of his 10 shots to score 17 points. He opened the second half with a 3-pointer and followed with a pair of layups.

GGC collected 20 assists and had nine different players put points on the scoreboard to share in the victory. The team's bench players added 49 points. Sophomore guard Mario Hill Jr. provided instant scoring, tallying 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting in just 18 minutes. Junior Jahiem Berry added 11 points and five assists.

Senior Manny Montgomery and Morgan each chipped in nine points and freshman Patrick Johnson scored eight points to cap off the strong play from the reserves.

Coach's Corner
"I was really pleased with the result. Shooting 63.5 percent from the floor is insane. Drew (Kramer) did a really good job of scoring at both levels (making 3-pointers and two-point field goals). Most of his career he has been a one-dimensional player (making 3-pointers), but he got four two-point field goals. This is kind of what we imagined our scoring looking like this season, while playing 10 guys double-figure minutes. Anytime we have this many guys scoring, we're hard to guard," said Head Coach Chase Teichmann.
