Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men’s Soccer Opens CAC Classic with 6-0 Victory

The No. 15-ranked Georgia Gwinnett College men's soccer team scored on its first three shots and cruised to a 6-0 victory against the United States Sports University (Alabama) to open the Continental Athletic Conference Classic on Thursday evening at the Grizzly Soccer Complex.

The Grizzlies (6-2-3) wasted no time lighting up the scoreboard in the match, scoring three times in the first eight minutes of the contest. Sophomore Alejandro Contrera headed in a pair of goals in the third and eighth minutes as part of the early surge. The forward leads the team with eight goals scored in 2025.

Junior Esteban Correa opened the scoring output by drilling a shot into the back of the net during the second minute of the match.

GGC had a similar rapid-fire scoring spurt during the second half. First, junior Joshua Orue headed in a shot from close distance at the 71-minute mark for the fourth goal of the match.

Freshman goalkeeper Victor Darub made two saves in posting his fourth shutout of the season.

GGC recorded 14 of its 20 shots during the first half. Thirteen different players attempted a shot across Thursday's 90 minutes of action. Freshman Ousmane Fall and Contrera each had three shots, including two being placed on goal.

Coach's Corner

There are always things that we can get better at. What the guys brought from the bench was excellent tonight," said Head Coach Steve DeCou.
