Men’s Soccer Scores 4-0 Triumph in CAC Classic Finale

A productive first half laid the foundation for the Georgia Gwinnett College men's soccer team to score a decisive 4-0 triumph against Florida National University to close out the Continental Athletic Conference Classic on Saturday afternoon at the Grizzly Soccer Complex.

The Grizzlies (7-2-3) set the momentum early when sophomore Pedro Nunes elevated a shot into the upper right corner of the opposing goal in the second minute of the match. That tally was his first of the season, increasing the list of Grizzlies with a goal to 14 different players.

Shortly thereafter, freshman Ousmane Fall found the back of the net to convert a perfectly placed pass from sophomore Gabriel Martins. That goal in the 14th minute gave the hosts a 2-0 lead.

GGC added two more goals in the second half and used a stingy defense, which limited the Sunshine State opponent to just two shot attempts over the final 45 minutes. Freshman goalkeeper Victor Darub made three saves across the match to record the team's fifth shutout of this season.

Fall second goal high fiveFall struck again in the second half, scoring in the 53rd minute for his eighth goal of the 2025 season.

Later, sophomore Nic Peranitsch drilled a shot into the bottom left corner of the opposing goal during the 69th minute to cap the Grizzlies' strong offensive performance.

GGC outshot the Conquistadors (7-3-3) by a commanding 15-6 margin, including an 8-3 margin in shots on goal.

Georgia Gwinnett College outscored its two CAC Classic opponents by a 10-0 margin.

Coach's Corner
"It was a great performance for us. Being up 2-0 at halftime was huge. We started each half strong. They (Florida National) still had some chances, but we remained organized defensively, and, as the game went on, we limited their chances," said Head Coach Steve DeCou.

Turning Point
Sophomore Pedro Nunes set a positive momentum early for the Grizzlies, elevating a shot into the upper right corner of the opposing net for the first tally of the match. GGC added another goal later in the first half with a score by freshman Ousmane Fall, his first of two for the match.
