The midweek NAIA top-15 men's soccer clash between Georgia Gwinnett College and the University of the Cumberlands (Kentucky) concluded in a familiar 1-1 draw on Wednesday evening in Williamsburg, Kentucky.
The teams have battled to a draw on three occasions in five encounters within the all-time series, including the same 1-1 score when the Grizzlies last visited Cumberlands during the 2023 season.
Wednesday's draw is the third of the season for No. 15-ranked GGC (5-1-3).
Freshman
Ousmane Fall gave the visitors a 1-0 advantage in the 29th minute when he finished a scoring opportunity created by sophomore
Josefa Simao and freshman
Luka Colic.
GGC maintained the advantage until Samuel Dolobaipu buried a free kick into the back of the net in the 65th minute for the No. 8 ranked Patriots.

The Grizzlies applied pressure down the stretch while seeking a go-ahead goal. Two offsides calls prevented scoring opportunities in the final five minutes and a shot attempt by sophomore
Alejandro Contrera sailed high in the 89th minute.
Fall paced the team's offensive attack by scoring his team-tying sixth goal of the season on three shot attempts. Cumberlands (5-3-3) held a slight 9-5 shot advantage and a 6-3 edge in corner kicks in the match.
Coach's Corner
"This was a tournament-type game. Our play in the second half needs some improvement because there are going to be momentum shifts in a game, and we need to stick to the task. We have made strides over the last month to play a match of this caliber. But this one feels like a missed opportunity – to go on the road and get a win over a ranked opponent. The guys aren't happy and I'm pleased that they see what was at stake," said Head Coach
Steve DeCou.
Turning Point
Cumberlands' Samuel Dolobaipu successfully converted a free kick, following a foul in a dangerous area, into a goal that tied the match, at 1-1, near the midway point of the second half. The Grizzlies took the lead in the 29th minute on a tally from freshman
Ousmane Fall.
